Unlocking the Gentle Power of Ki

In Japanese, the word “ki” (pronounced kee) is so intertwined with everyday speech that people may use it a hundred times a day without much notice! It’s an important word connected with all existence, care, and the connection between oneself and the environment.
You’ll find it in words related to health and emotional well-being (gen-ki), taking care of oneself (ki-o-tsukeru), being in a good mood (ki-mochi), sickness (byo-ki), the weather (ten-ki), air (kuu-ki), a motivating shout (ki-ai), and courage (yuu-ki)… just to share some!
Essentially, “ki” is life, or we can say, it’s the expression of life. Without the word “ki,” there would be no way to communicate the experience of being alive.
With the practice of Rei-ki, we are gently increasing the unique expression of life throughout our bodies and minds.
Reiki supports us to continually step into this fullest expression with gentleness and precision.
If we look to nature, we see that all life moves in gentle rhythms. Nothing is harsh or forced. The unfurling of a flower happens almost without us noticing, and even a booming hurricane starts from a subtle stir within an ocean’s waves.
When we receive Reiki, we’re receiving the same power that nudges all of the natural world to grow or expand into itself.
There are a variety of ways to practice Reiki, which is to connect with Reiki and receive this “life power.” The easiest is to simply think about it.
When we meditate on the 5 Reiki Principles, we are doing just that. We’re thinking about Reiki while also thinking about ourselves. And everything we think about ourselves receives Reiki.
Each of the 5 Reiki principles acts as a mirror into our subconscious so we can see what is giving us ki and what isn't.
I talk about this in our meditations, by bringing focus to what is bothering us or robbing us of precious ki we're bringing a kind of Reiki lamp into certain internal spaces and allowing it to warmly shine light there. In this light of awareness we will feel stronger as the flow of ki increases. We aren’t doing anything more than allowing ourselves to see ourselves more fully, gently and with love.
It's this gently self-loving way of practice, we are increasing our ki. This life power is then able to flow through our physical body, mental body and also emotional body so we can feel better in all areas of life.
Our meditation on the 5 Reiki Principles is open to students of Reiki, whether you’re currently practicing or haven’t practiced in years, as well as those who are interested in learning more about Reiki and its benefits.
Everyone receives Reiki and may feel the gentle adjusting happening within the body and mind. You’ll know your ki is increasing by the relief you’ll feel.
It feels very ki-mochi! 👍
